American Sign Language
Certificate of Achievement
Program Details
Chabot’s American Sign Language Certificate of Achievement is designed to prepare students to finger spell names and words that do not have a sign, to receptively “read” words on the hand when signed by other people, and to understand the importance of facial expressions and apply them when signing. They also learn to use advanced grammatical structures that are only used in ASL, applying these grammatical features in everyday conversation and in class presentations. Students can become fluent in the language after four consecutive semesters with the completion of SL 67.
