Associate in Arts for Transfer
Program Details
The Associate in Arts in Theatre Arts for Transfer (AA-T) prepares students to move into a curriculum at a four-year institution leading to a baccalaureate degree in Theatre Arts, which can lead to careers in teaching, design, technical theater, theater management, professional performance, stage direction, stage management, etc. Completion of the AA-T degree also provides guaranteed admission with junior status to the CSU system. Upon completion of the AA-T in Theatre Arts, students will understand and be able to demonstrate the fundamental performance and technical production process for the theater arts, demonstrate knowledge of the historical and cultural dimensions of theater, and understand the interaction between script, actor, and audience in the areas of scenery, lighting, and costume. At some of the CSUs, other majors are linked with the AA-T in Theatre Arts. Some examples are: Theatre Arts (areas of emphasis include Stage Technology and Design, Acting/Performance, Dance Theater, Musical Theatre), Visual and Performing Arts, Creative Arts, Performing Arts. Students are required to complete 60 semester units that are eligible for transfer to a California State University, including: The California General Education Transfer Curriculum (Cal-GETC), courses required for the major, minimum grades of C (or P) in the courses required for the major and general education, and earn an overall minimum grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.0.
